ABSTRACT

In the 21st century, COVID-19 made a profound impact on the world. This pandemic had a detrimental impact worldwide, causing massive economic damage and enormous mortality. Emerging technologies play an essential role in every sector, and the health sector is not exceptional in this line. This paper examines the health sector before, during, and after the COVID-19 era by taking a view of emerging technologies. Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, IoT, learning paradigms, blockchain, and others are emerging technologies. E-adoption of these technologies becomes important to face critical situations during COVID-19. Using these technologies, it is possible to care for and monitor remote patients by keeping medical record management. This study includes a brief examination of similar work. In addition, the impact of e-adoption on health sector is discussed in this research. Furthermore, this study suggested a paradigm for comprehending the application of developing technologies to manage and overcome the health sector???s burden. Finally, research is concluded with remarks on the future.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Resilient firms are more likely to survive crisis. This paper aims to investigate the resilient behavior displayed by small and medium enterprise (SME) owners in the pandemic context and the sequence of antecedents leading to resilient behavior. Design/methodology/approach: Seven SME owners, from different business sectors, were interviewed twice in 8 months, to assess their actions and underlying entrepreneurial resilience. A model was developed depicting the sequence of activities leading to entrepreneurial resiliency behavior. The study was conducted in the capital city of Odisha, an eastern Indian state. Findings: The results indicate that entrepreneurial resiliency is manifested in various forms where the SME owners engage in bricolage. Resiliency has an inevitable time dimension, where SME owners estimate the period for which adversity is likely to persist. They focus on alternative action to demonstrate resiliency. It was also learnt that revenue management during a crisis requires entrepreneurial marketing with innovativeness, opportunity seeking and value creation to improve resiliency. Research limitations/implications: This research is important for policymakers who can strengthen resiliency through the support and provision of adequate information to SME owners. Educators can use the model for discussion and pedagogy. Finally, SME owners can evaluate their response behaviors to a crisis and draw insights. Originality/value: The approach of the study was longitudinal and qualitative. This study contributes to the literature gap on resiliency in the context of emerging markets and SMEs. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

Objective: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) affects millions of people worldwide. The article aims to review the therapeutic perspective on natural antioxidants, their mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics in management and cure of COVID-19/ SARS-CoV-2 infection. Methods: We conducted a literature search including World Health Organization and National Institute of Health guidelines and clinical trials registered with ClinicalTrials.gov limited to antioxidants in COVID-19 management. Results: Elderly, immunocompromised patients, and others with underlying health conditions or multiple comorbidities have a high mortality rate. Disrupted redox homeostasis and oxidative stress seem to be biological pathways that may increase personal vulnerability to infection. Antioxidants like vitamins C, D, E, epigallocatechin-3 gallate, and morin have been reported to protect against COVID-19 disease. Reactive oxygen species are immunological regulatory elements of viral replication. Natural antioxidants exhibit potential action in preventing inflammation and organ dysfunction during viral infection. They also increase glutathione level, oxygenation rate, and immunological responses in the treatment of sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Conclusion: No wonder the selection of prevention, treatment, and cure of COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 mainly depends upon the antiviral and immunoregulatory activity which they possess. Yet, their efficacy against COVID-19 is of great concern and demands extensive study. © 2023 The Authors. ABSTRACT

Vaccine among people globally preparations must be made within countries for covid-19 vaccine safety surveillance on an urgent basis. Safety surveillance must be capable of investigating adverse event of special interest (AESI) and adverse event following immunization to determine a change in the benefit-risk profile of the vaccine. COVID-19 vaccine is the most important tool to stem the pandemic. WHO emergency use listing, while using regulatory pathway through national regulatory authorities. Vaccine safety communication plan should be developed. Expending the global vaccine safety system to meet the needs of covid-19 and other emergency and routine use vaccine is a priority currently. The protective efficacy and the short term and long-term side effect of the vaccine are of major concern. Various strategies have been designed the covid-19 pandemic. The highly infectious corona virus disease 2019 associate with me pathogenic severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has spread to become a global pandemic. The development of covid-19 vaccine is crucial for the world to return to pre-pandemic normalcy and the collective global effort has been invested into protective against SARS-CoV2.
